Now I use Vim and tmux which means I can () or on my Mac and have the exact same environment. I have no idea why I took that to heart because I hated working there, but I spent a year trying to like other code editors instead of sticking with the one that just feels right to me. My biggest stint away from Vim came when I left a job because we both didn’t like working with each other and my boss said that “real” coders couldn’t be using Vim in today’s coding landscape. Every single time I think I may have found a good replacement for Vim I head back to it after a few months of frustration. I’ve tried PHPStorm, Atom, Sublime Text, TextMate…and so many other code editors. Here are the things I keep coming back to.
